Are We Just Content Now?
Events, films, web series, sports, music, content you post: videos, podcasts, blogs, newsletters, photos, social media posts – all content to be consumed. Distributed through content distribution platforms/channels like Netflix, YouTube, Spotify, social media, etc. – live streamed or on-demand.
What made me think about this?
Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua match – live on Netflix on 19 Dec’25. This match will probably break viewing records.
This made me try to think about the creator economy and how it works.
Platforms like Netflix want content like this. They will help create events like this for their audiences to be consumed on their platforms. See: ‘Event Assets Driving the Creator Economy’.
Content like this attracts sponsors and advertisers.
Influencers posting content about themselves. Affiliate marketers live streaming to their audiences. Are live events just content to be consumed? Is it all about the content creators and the content distribution channels?
